Most of us have probably heard a beautiful song on the radio or at a live performance and wished that we too could sing with such a pleasing voice. Perhaps you were inspired at the moment to take singing lessons to learn how to sing, but then shelved the thought because you felt you did not truly have the potential to sing well.But if you have a genuine desire to learn to sing, don't give up, and never think that you're a hopeless case! Contrary to what many people say, singing is not something you're born with-- it's something that must be developed, and something that anyone can learn.

OK the agents might not be beating a path to your door, I'll give you that, but anyone can learn how to sing up to a decent standard. My argument is this: singing is like most skills in life it is something you can learn to do giving the right tools.Let me ask you a simple question. How many singers do you know who just opened their mouth and began to sing: ten, twenty, fifty? I'd hazard a guess it was zero! I'll grant you there is the odd child genius who can just began singing, but they are few and far between and I've yet to meet one.

You should be able to find a good instructor in your local area who will teach you the basics of vocal technique and breath control needed to be a good singer. But do make sure you get references before you hire a singing instructor, as it's all too easy to hire someone who really has no business teaching how to sing.

A good vocal coach will teach you the solid fundamentals of singing, such as the principle that singing should not be hard, and your voice should not experience stress or strain even when belting out notes or reaching high on your highest octave scale. Your ability to learn to sing will not happen overnight, just as you were not able to learn to walk overnight. Some people were born with the natural ability to sing gracefully and on pitch. Emotional Freedom Techniques

(EFT) Emotional Freedom Technique is an alternative healing method invented by Gary Craig in the 1990s. Based on the teachings of his one time mentor Roger Callahan, it has been hailed as miraculous by many holistic healers and doctors, equally disparaged by critics who call it pseudo science, and in spite of, or perhaps because of the controversy is wildly popular. It is available for purchase on DVD on the internet, is taught in workshops in conjunction with the DVD and has been glowingly endorsed by celebrities such as Deepak Chopra. The basic theory of EFT is simple, heal the mind and good health will follow. EFT is The Power of Positive Thinking taken to a whole new post modernist level.

Started by Gary Craig in the nineteen nineties as a revision of Roger Callahan's (TFT) Thought Field Therapy, EFT is based on the belief that disturbances in the body's energy field cause negative emotions and that by utilizing its techniques ailments ranging from cancer to the common cold can be cured. In its original incarnation as TFT it utilized meridians, i.e. tapping points on the body. The ailing person was supposed to think of a negative emotion while tapping in a specific sequence on a specified series of points or meridians (which correspond to the meridians used in Chinese medicine) thus restoring balance to the body's energy field. Gary Craig discovered that the sequence of tapping points was irrelevant so he simplified Callahan's procedure while maintaining its core belief in meridians and EFT was born.

As you are tapping, you say a reminder phrase that helps you to stay focused on the specific issue or feeling that you are looking to treat. The default phrase is "Even though I have this ...... (name the problem), I completely love and accept myself". Advanced EFT practitioners will vary this phrasing considerably to approach problems in a variety of ways.

There are many You Tube videos showing EFT in action, and you can tap along with many of them, experiencing your own personal shifts and transformations. The issue here is that although you will hopefully have an experience of EFT working for you, this is a disjointed approach as there is no formal training. This means that if you try to use it on yourself without having foundational knowledge, it may work, or it may not. If it doesn't work, you could become disheartened and put EFT aside. Again, this would be tragic as, if used properly, EFT could literally be life changing for you.

This would seem to indicate that the EFT theory of the body's energy meridian system is false. However, a second study involving the use of a psychological test called the SA-45 indicated otherwise. Participants in an EFT workshop were given the test before and immediately after the workshop, and one and six months later. All participants showed significant decreases of pre and post workshop stress.

Also, in many DVD packages, you can participate in group tapping experiences from the comfort of your own armchair. Learning from DVDs is very cost-effective, ranging from around $30 to $150 for basic training. Sadly by far the best DVD training from EFT creator Gary Craig has been discontinued as he has retired, although it can be hired from different outlets. That training goes into great depth with hundreds of real examples and "live" cases on video.

There are disadvantages of using DVD-based training: Firstly you are not able to ask your own questions. Learning is a personal experience and DVDs are not able to give the individual attention that can help you really get the technique. In addition, if you get stuck when you are first starting, as with the other learning methods above, it can be very difficult to know what to do, without any direct, immediate help.

For someone who is desperately ill and looking for a cure, it is irresponsible and misleading to claim EFT can cure them, particularly if that person is going to forgo proven conventional treatment in favor of EFT. That is not to say that EFT lacks all value, just that its efficacy has not been proven, and further studies are required before it is accepted or dismissed entirely.

The connection between the mind and body has been a subject of fascination for decades, and there is no doubt that the mind plays a vital part in the well being of the body. What is unclear is how effective EFT is in tapping into the connection between the two. Its popularity and vague results when put to the test make it difficult to determine hype from reality, and further scrutiny is necessary before it can be accepted or rejected. We are only in the beginning phases of learning just how powerful the mind/body connection is, and it would be irresponsible to completely dismiss the power of alternative therapies including EFT, and equally irresponsible to accept them without proper and in depth study.

For now it would be appropriate to say that the power of EFT is unproven, but the possibilities it offers are worth looking into. The field it is exploring is a vital one, and any opportunity to learn more about the connection between mental health and physical health should be welcomed. Skeptics and proponents alike should take more time examining the possibilities before casting judgment, negative or positive.

I actually had an experience where the person I hired didn't think I should be a singer because they said I just didn't have the voice for it. They even told me to "get another hobby." It was then that I discovered the online singing lessons option and I'm very pleased to say that worked much better for me. I didn't need judgment on my voice, I needed methods to improve my voice. And that's what I got from the online singing lessons I downloaded.

However since there are number of software programs available in the market you will have to pick wisely. The first constraint will inevitably be the cost of the software since the prices start at $20 and can go up to a few hundred dollars depending on the features of the product. We make the same sounds on a daily basis: "Hi Bob!" (someone shouting across the park);"Ouch!" (an unfortunate Bandaid incident); "Mom!?" (a child yelling through the house). All of these every day noises are applicable to singing. All of the muscles we use on a daily basis are applicable to singing: laughing muscles, shouting muscles, breathing the air in and out through your lungs, our jaw and mouth muscles. They all are there and ready to go! All one has to do is think of extending the tone. Take a big breath and say, "Baaaaaaahb" (Bob, extended) and move your tone of voice up and down as if in a question--then in a statement--then an admonition.

Understand the Song.It is important to focus on the meaning of the lyrics as well as the overall tone it is trying to present. Learning a song means understanding the message and the different emotions that should be presented. You also want to examine the movement and flow of the song as well and learn how to express the proper emotion in your performance.

Babies are wonderful singers! They have an incredible range of tone. Next time you are with a friend with a baby or if you have your very own, listen to all of the amazing singing noises they can make. We don't really change much as adults, we just forget that we still have all of the tools available to us-every day!

Also pay attention to your own voice when you are in natural situations. You will find that you can make more singing sounds than you thought. Every single inflection of every day speech can be utilized, sustained, and made into beautiful song. All you have to do is know that you have all of your tools already.To sing is as ancient as our language and our ability to speak. We have been singing our stories for tens of thousands of years, and no one should be told not to.It is part of the soul, part of the language of the universe. Whether it be in a shower, on a mountaintop, in the privacy of your sacred garden, with a collection of like-minded singers, in your church, in your school, out at sea at night sailing under the stars, or anywhere you can imagine...just sing and all of the ether will vibrate with you.

Life can sometimes get on top of you and make you feel as if you have no hope and as a result you can start to feel depressed and powerless. But you may be feeling depressed but you are not powerless.If you want to begin to feel better then first you need to just put your worries aside for a second.I know it's easier said than done but just trust me on this one.Get a pen and paper and write down the things that you have in your life to be grateful for. Even if it's as simple as running water, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, eyes to be able to read this etc, etc. Keep writing until you can't think of anything else that you have to be grateful for. Have a think about this and think about how lucky you are to have these things.

What makes it challenging when you go to the doctor not feeling well and you're told there's nothing wrong with you is that you know there is something wrong, but the tests just aren't picking it up.You see, there isn't a distinct line between health and disease. In most cases, it's a gradual process. You don't go from healthy to having a disease overnight, unless you came in contact with something that causes an immediate reaction. Most of the time, there are shades of gray where you're not healthy, but you're not sick enough for the tests medical science has available to detect it.

Exercise also has physical benefits as well such as a healthy heart, bones, and blood flow. For individuals who don't have the desire to utilize physical activity as a coping mechanism, may find it beneficial to use something such as dance to incorporate this into their treatment. They can be your support group, and if they are as good friends are they are, can be pillars of support when the going gets rough for you.Treat yourself to a makeover once in a while. You deserve it. Not that you need to look better, but it is always advantageous to pamper yourself. Go to the spa. Have a facial. Indulge in a Thai massage. Going out of the spa, you can really feel yourself spic and span, smart-looking and confident. The way you look contributes to how you feel about yourself, therefore, look your best.Make time for yourself. Meditate. Open your thoughts in an environment of calm and serenity. Go climb a mountain. Pray. However you do it, talking to yourself allows you to keep in touch with your inner thoughts. You will discover a lot about yourself that way, and that is always a good thing.Introspection also allows you to plan ahead in your life. So, free from distractions and the chaos of the everyday world, you can chart your destiny in life. And having a plan, having a course to set would enable you to be more successful in your life. And success, my friend, makes you feel better about your self, because it is an affirmation of what you are and what you are capable of doing.Above all, love yourself. There is no greater love than loving yourself, because you cannot give what you do not have. So, if one is filled with love, you can be generous in giving out love. That is the best way to feel good about yourself.
